Dear Scotland – I’m coming back to eat you!
“Haste Ye Back” is a Scottish saying meaning “come back
soon”. What can I say... It’s working on me, as I’m heading back to Scotland only
a few weeks after my last visit. As this rate I’ll be
moving there soon (not really!)
You might have noticed that I’m fascinated by foraging and love a bit of local produce. This trip will give me the chance to indulge in both of those, complimented by cooking lessons and even a cook-off in a castle! Needless to say, I cannae wait! (Is that right? My Scottish lingo is still in its infancy!)
Thrown in for good measure, I will be trying my hand at land yachting on the beach near St Andrews. I’m not exactly what you would call a thrill seeker and the last time I tried my hand at an adventure activity, I managed to smack myself in the head at the end of a zip line. Hopefully I can leave my accident-prone self at home for this one – it does look pretty cool.
I will be part of a trip organized by Embrace Scotland, aptly dubbed Taste Ye Back. Along the way we’ll be checking out self-catering accommodation both in and outside of Edinburgh, finalized by a pub-crawl in Edinburgh. I look forward to seeing what the city is like when the Fringe Festival isn’t on – it was in full swing last time I was there!
You can follow us along the way via #TasteYeBack on Twitter and Facebook and I’m sure there will be some Instagram action too. See you on the road!
